About tools-and-tips.com

tools-and-tips.com is a growing collection of small online utilities that each do one job well and then stay out of your way. There is no sign-up, no paywall, and no clutter — you open a tool, get your answer, and move on.

I started this site because the simplest tasks so often send you to the noisiest pages: a word count buried under ads, a date calculator wrapped in a login screen, a JSON formatter that wants your email first. Every tool here is the opposite of that. It loads fast, works on the first try, and asks nothing of you.

Everything runs in your browser

Each tool runs entirely in your browser. When you paste text into the character counter or drop a file into the JSON viewer, the data never leaves your device — there is no server doing the work, so there is nothing to upload and nothing to store. That makes these tools safe for confidential drafts, internal data, and anything you would rather not hand to someone else’s server.

What you’ll find here

The tools are grouped into two simple categories:

  • Calculators — quick answers to everyday text and date questions, including the Character & Word Counter and the Date Calculator.
  • Converters — encode, decode, and format data without leaving the page, with the Encoder & Decoder and the JSON Viewer & Formatter.

The list keeps growing. A new tool is added whenever a task turns out to be common enough that it deserves its own page.

Free, and available in three languages

Everything on the site is free to use, supported by a small amount of advertising so the tools can stay online. The whole site is available in English, 한국어, and 日本語, so you can work in the language you think in.

If a tool is missing or could work better, I want to hear about it — the contact page tells you how to reach me.
